Computed Tomographic Findings in Seizure Patients

Abstract
Computed tomography (CT) has been established as an extremely sensitive and accurate method of demonstrating intracranial pathology. Over the past few years, several investigators have emphasized the value of CT scans in the domain of epilepsy.
The authors analyzed 28 patients who were checked for detecting causes of seizure disorders at Chonnam University Hospital from June, 1979 to December, 1980. About two thirds of the cases were of normal findings (68%). CT scan also demonstrated two cases of cerebral paragonimiasis, one case of arteriovenous malformation, one case of hydrocephalus, and one case of chronic subdural hematoma respectively.
CT findings justified surgical intervention in six young patients who have suffered from epilepsy for several years. After their operations, five of the six patients experienced no further seizure and the other one enjoyed significant relief.
